The whole windsurfing world is waiting for one event:
THE most important Freestyle competition of the year, the Red Bull King of the Lake at Torbole, Lake Garda.
But what would the King be without a Queen of the Lake? The worlds best windsurfing ladies will also be battling hard for the crown and at the Prince of the Lake the young talents and newcomers will show their skills.

The young guys
Insiders believe that it will be the year of the young riders and they are ready to rumble:
The strong Venezuelan riders Diony Guadagnino (V 69), winner of the King 2000, the magic kid Ricardo Campello (V 111) and their 17 year old friends from el Yaque, Isla Margarita, Douglas Cheo Diaz (V 34) and Alexis Zabala (V 41) came all the way to try to beat the world's best riders.

Other very young riders
coming from the Caribbean island of Bonaire, Tati and Tonki Frans, (NB 7 and NB 9) impressed judges, spectators and riders two weeks ago at the PWA event in Costa Brava by winning the super session.
Last years winner of the PWA competition in Fuerteventura, the Brazilian kid Kauli Seadi,(BRA 253) is another hot shot and potential winner. But watch out for Colin Sifferlen (NC 4)from New Caledonia - this quiet kid is going off on the water!

The old pros -
But the classic Freestyle heroes are still there: Last year we saw the victory of Matt Pritchard (US 10) at the King of the Lake and he is sailing strong this year as well, winning an event at Cape Cod in April. Web Pedrick (US 002), last year 4th at the King and winner of the Freestyle event at San Francisco in June, is one of the top riders who is reaching for the prestigious crown with his invention, a jumped upwind 360 he calls the "Swayze".

Canadian Champion Martin "Sugar" van Geenhoven (KC 25) says that there can be only one king and it will be him.
Remko de Weerd (H 23)the Dutch super rider and winner of this year's PWA event in Austria is said to be one of the potential winners of the King.
ABut the man who badly wants the crown for the first time, is two times Freestyle world champion Josh Stone (USA 6) and he will definitely do everything to get there. He was sailing a lot and is able to do all the new tricks and together with his competition experience this could be the mix to win….
The inventor of the King, legendary Alex Humpel, (AUT 360) showed with his 5th place at the event in Austria that classic style combined with flow is also good for a top ranking. Irie man Brian Talma (KBA 8) from Barbados will be definitely leading the party ranking and his smile will bring some flair from the Caribbean to northern Italy.

The girls
Female charm and top sailing level is what we will see at the Queen of the Lake:
The toughest battle for the Queen of the Lake will be between the Queen of 2001 and reigning PWA Wave World champion Daida Ruano Moreno (E 64), her twin sister Iballa Ruano Moreno (E 63) a former Wave World Champion as well, Karin Jaggi (Z 14) from Switzerland and the Freestyle World Champion 2001 Colette Guadagnino (V 711) from Venezuela.
The windsurfing world stands still for four days as everybody is focussed on one little spot in Italy but on the biggest challenge of modern Freestyle:
The Red Bull King of the Lake.
Stay tuned for the world's best windsurfing event !
