Gran Canaria PWA Grand Slam - Day 2
Victor Fernandez (Fanatic / Simmer) und Daida Moreno (North) lassen sich ihre Führung in Pozo auch in der Double Elimination nicht nehmen. Der derzeitige Tourleader Kauli Seadi (Quatro / Naish) und die 2006 World Champion Iballa Moreno (North) belegen den zweiten Platz.

Höhere Wellen und konstante Winde erlaubten, dass die Double Elimination im Waveriding heute beendet werden konnte.
Der 2006 World Wavesailing Champ Kevin Pritchard (Starboard / MauiSails) und Pozo Local Marcos Perez (Exocet) waren die besten Back-Fighter in der Double Elimination. Marcos geht durch 7 Heats und entsorgt währenddessen auch Bjorn and Dario. Erst Julien Taboulet (F2 / Naish) kann Marcos stoppen.

Victor kann im Finale seinen gestrigen Erfolg verteitigen und beschreibt den Heat wie folgt: "The conditions were harder than yesterday, and the wind was also lighter, plus, we had fewer waves to work with. I was on a 4.1 and my New wave 69. I played it safe at the start and only got a couple of jumps before hanging out back for the good sets. I had 2 long waves, which were nice, and then I scored some more jumps before I landed a Goiter on a solid wave right at the end, which made a massive difference. I think Kauli had jumped well and I knew he had a taka. It was close and I’m happy as I’ve sailed here a lot and in many different conditions around the world to challenge for the title, and so far it’s paying-off"

Nach den bisher drei PWA Wave Events führt Kauli Seadi immer noch die Tour an, Victor Fernandez und Josh Angulo sind auf den Plätzen 2 und 3.
Bei den Mädels ist in der Gesamtwertung Daida Moreno vorne, Karin Jaggi knapp dahinter, auf dem dritten Platz die amtierende World Champion Iballa Moreno.
Morgen um 9:30 ist das Skippersmeeting angesetzt, der Plan ist ein Slalom Race zu starten. Die Windvorhersage sieht gut aus!
