The 2007 Fuerteventura PWA Grand Slam - Final Day
Marcilio Browne genießt das Gefühl seines ersten Sieges als die Champagnerkorken für die Gewinner des Freestyle Events poppen. Kiri Thode aus Bonaire sichert sich den zweiten Platz, Thomas Traversa wird dritter. Daida Moreno gewinnt den Freestyle Event der Mädels und sichert sich gleichzeitig den 2007 Titel - ihre fünfte World Freestyle Krone! Sarah-Quita Offringa ist zweite Overall, Laure Treboux bleibt dritte.

Auch am letzten Tag nimmt die Hitzwelle ohne ernstzunehmendes Lüftchen den Ridern jede Hoffnung in der Double Elimination noch einmal zurückzuschlagen zu können. Der 18-jährige ‘Brawzinho’ Browne (Mistral / Gaastra) legt damit seinen allerersten Eventgewinn in trockene Tücher. Daida Moreno (North) und Marcilio Browne’s (Mistral / Gaastra) Warten nimmt nach drei superheißen und windlosen Tagen ein Ende.

Der zweite Platz des erst 17-jährigen Thode’s bedeutet, dass er Tour Leader wird - mit einem Event in Sylt to go. "I really had fun here although I sailed really badly in the single elimination. In the double though I beat some talented riders like Ricardo Campello (JP / NeilPryde), the current world champion Gollito Estredo (Fanatic / North), and Brawzinho of course. I was pretty nervous through the event as I did well in Lanzarote and I didn’t want to do any worse to waste my second place there, and needed to come and build on that good result here. I’ll go back to Bonaire now to train for Sylt and just see how it goes"
Der Franzose Thomas Traversa (Tabou / Gaastra) verdient sich den dritten Platz, nachdem er Tonky Frans (F2 / Gaastra) im Losers Finale geschlagen hat.

Drei deutsche Fahrer nahmen in Sotavento teil: Andre Paskowski fährt äußerst respektabel auf den neunten Platz, Normen Günzlein wird Dreizehnter. Stephan Kruse belegt den 17. Rang. Ein österreichischer Rider ist dabei: Michael "Rossi" Roßmeier beendet den Event auf Platz 13.
Daida Moreno feiert ihren Event- und Overall 2007 Titel, nachdem es für die Damen der letzte Freestyle Event der Saison war. Sarah-Quita Offringa’s (Starboard / NeilPryde) ist Vize-Weltmeisterin. Die erst 16-jährige ist Daida sauknapp auf den Fersen und macht die 2008er Tour sicherlich spannend.
Daida Moreno sprach mit uns über ihren fünften Titel: "I’m stoked as this year the title was between Sarah-Quita and I, and it was really close in the end. I came here confident and focused and everything was working perfectly with my boards and sails. I know everyone wanted to see a new name win through and that really motivated me to go for it even more. In the winter I only really trained in the waves and put freestyle to one side. But the two new boards I had ready for this event were amazing and so I felt more motivated than ever to sail my best"
