| april 14, 2004 - day 5
| |
| After 4 days of intense action, sailors are forced to play the waiting game as competition goes into a holding pattern due to light winds.
A much calmer morning greeted the competitors arriving at La Franqui in Leucate this morning after the previous four days of hard-core competition. Not content to simply drop, the wind teased everyone, just on the edge of being sailable, but the forecast held promise of stronger wind for later in the afternoon so everyone remained on standby.
Going into day 5, the current event standings saw Antoine Albeau (AHD, Neil Pryde) leading ahead of Matt Pritchard (Gaastra), by just two and a half points. Robbie Swift (JP, Neil Pryde) and Peter Volwater (Arrows) will also be looking to maintain their current positions in third and fourth respectively whilst Nik Baker (Mistral, North) will be doing his best to move up from fifth. The final round will decide the event winner so the tension remains high.

Everyone will have to wait until tomorrow morning to find out if Albeau can hang on, or if Pritchard can achieve the near impossible and take out France’s favourite windsurfing son on his home turf.
